The Power of the Last Third of the Night
Hadith:
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Our Lord, the Blessed and Exalted, descended to the lowest heaven every night when the last third of the night remained and said: ‘Who would call upon Me that I might answer him? Who would ask of Me that I might give to him? Who would seek My forgiveness that I might forgive him?’”
— (Sahih Bukhari & Muslim)
🌌 A Time of Divine Mercy
This hadith reminded the believers of one of the most special times — the last third of the night. It was a moment when Allah, the Most Merciful, invited His servants directly to seek His help, His blessings, and His forgiveness.
✨ Why This Time Was So Special
- A direct call from Allah: Unlike any other time, Allah Himself had called His servants to turn to Him.
- Dua was answered: Supplications made at this hour held great power.
- Forgiveness awaited: Sins were wiped away for those who sincerely sought His pardon.
- A moment of peace: The world was quiet, and the heart became more sincere in devotion.
🕋 How Believers Benefited from This Time
To truly benefit from this blessed time, the righteous used to:
- Wake up a little before Fajr for Tahajjud prayer.
- Spend moments making heartfelt dua.
- Seek forgiveness through istighfar.
- Reflect on life and renew intentions for the sake of Allah.
Even if it was just two units of prayer and a few words of sincere dua, it could change the course of one’s life and bring immense blessings.
💭 Reflection
The Lord of the worlds, who needed nothing from His servants, had called upon them every night: “Who would ask of Me? Who would seek My forgiveness?” It was an open door of mercy, waiting for them to knock. The wise did not miss this golden opportunity.
