The Sunnah of Friday Bath (Ghusl).
Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:
“The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male (Muslim) who has attained the age of puberty.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
🌿 Why is Friday Bath Important?
Friday (Jumuah) is the most blessed day of the week in Islam. It is a day of gathering, prayer, and spiritual renewal. The bath (Ghusl) before Jumu’ah prayer is a means of:
- Purifying oneself physically and spiritually.
- Showing respect for the sanctity of Jumuah.
- Maintaining cleanliness when attending the congregation.

The Prophet ﷺ taught Muslims to come to Jumu’ah prayer in a state of purity, wearing clean clothes, using perfume, and presenting themselves with dignity. This reflects not only personal hygiene but also respect for the community and the house of Allah.
